Best Budget Pickleball Paddles: Our Research Picks
Edited by Dan · Published · Updated · How we research

You don’t need a premium price to get a well-built paddle. Several brands we cover now sell foam-core and thermoformed paddles at budget prices, and some of them score as high on our research scale as paddles that cost twice as much. This guide ranks the most affordable paddles we review, using manufacturer specifications, our spec-based rating scale and the buyer ratings on each brand’s own site. Each paddle’s current price is in its price box. We haven’t play-tested these paddles.
Quick Picks
- Best overall: Vatic Pro V-Sol Pro V7. A floating EPP foam core with an EVA perimeter ring behind a raw T700 carbon face, a 9.1 research score (tied on our scale with the Prism V7 below) and 750+ buyer ratings averaging 4.8.
- Best wide, forgiving face: Volair SHIFT WB. A 14 mm full-foam widebody with top power and sweet-spot ratings (10 each), a light swing weight of 106 and a twist weight of 7.35. Volair sells SHIFT paddles as final sale.

Every Budget Paddle We Review
This table uses each paddle’s current price on the manufacturer’s site, so it updates automatically as prices change. Premium paddles sometimes drop into this range when they go on sale, and they appear here while the sale lasts.
Ratings are our research-based 1–10 scores (how we score). Prices change often — confirm with the retailer.
What You Get for Less
A few years ago, paddles at this price were mostly honeycomb cores with fiberglass faces. Today the range includes:
- Foam cores: the Vatic Pro V-Sol and Volair SHIFT use all-foam cores, which earn the biggest power bonus on our scale. See foam core vs honeycomb.
- Thermoformed builds: Volair’s Mach and CTRL Forza paddles list thermoformed unibody construction. See thermoformed paddles explained.
- Raw T700 carbon faces: common across Vatic Pro, Onix, CRBN and Volair at this price.
- Published swing and twist weights: Vatic Pro and Volair publish both for most shapes, which makes like-for-like comparison easier.
What You May Give Up
- Return flexibility: some brands sell certain paddles as final sale, including Volair’s SHIFT line. Each review lists the brand’s return policy and warranty.
- Buyer feedback: some newer or lower-volume paddles have only a few buyer ratings, which makes durability harder to judge. The Vatic Pro Prism and V-Sol lines have the most buyer feedback in this group.
- Branded grit surfaces: few paddles at this price list a durable branded texture, which limits their spin ratings on our scale. Most rely on raw carbon instead.
Which Should You Choose?
- You want the most power and pop: V-Sol Pro V7 for reach, or SHIFT WB for a wider, more forgiving face.
- You play a soft, controlled game: Mach 2 Forza or Vatic Pro Prism Flash.
- You want reach and spin: CRBN³ X Series or Prism V7.
- You’re buying your first real paddle: Volair Mach 2 or Volair Pro 2, both among the lowest-priced paddles we review and on the USA Pickleball approved list.
