Buy at SelkirkOur 1–10 ratings, built from the maker’s published specs and scored the same way for every brand. How we score
Calculated from our four ratings, weighted for each kind of player. How these are weighted
On our spec-based scale the foam BoomCore and 8.0–8.4 oz weight give it 8.5 for power; the shorter widebody shape adds less leverage than the elongated version. Selkirk's buyer reviews, which cover both shapes (4.7/5 from 2,701 on Selkirk.com, October 2026), consistently describe impressive power and pop; buyer feedback doesn't change our scores.
A 16 mm core, a three-layer T700 carbon face and the shorter widebody shape give it 9.5 for control on our scale. The most common caveat from buyers is a learning curve on soft shots like dinks; buyer feedback doesn't change our scores.
Its T700 carbon face and InfiniGrit surface give it a spin rating of 9.5; the widebody shape earns no shape points, so it rates a little below the elongated Boomstik (10). Selkirk says InfiniGrit lasts about three times longer than traditional raw carbon texture.
An 8 in face, a 16 mm core, Selkirk's MOI perimeter weighting and an 8.0–8.4 oz weight give it our top sweet-spot rating of 10.
Each section is our analysis of the manufacturer’s published specs unless it says otherwise.
Manufacturer data
Selkirk publishes a swing weight of about 112 for the widebody, compared with 118 for the elongated Boomstik, so it should feel quicker at the kitchen line. The grip is 5.6 in, shorter than the elongated version's 5.8 in.
Selkirk lists a 5.6 in handle: long enough for most players who hit two-handed backhands. The grip circumference is 4.25 in, thicker than most paddles, which favors larger hands; it can't easily be made slimmer. At about 8.2 oz, it is in the mid-weight range most paddles fall into. Comfort is personal: grip size, handle length and weight are the published specs that affect it most.
Manufacturer data
Selkirk publishes a twist weight of about 8.2, the highest published twist weight of any paddle we review, helped by the MOI system shifting mass toward the perimeter.
Manufacturer information
Selkirk markets the BoomCore as resisting core crush, and the MOI perimeter weights are semi-permanent and pre-installed; Selkirk notes that removing them could damage the parts. Selkirk backs LABS Project Boomstik paddles with a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects and offers 30-day returns on paddles bought from selkirk.com. Some buyers report edge chipping or surface wear over time, and a few mention the high price and that no case is included.
Manufacturer description and buyer feedback
Buyers describe a lively, poppy response with a distinctive sound at contact, and Selkirk's review summary says buyers appreciate the wide-body option for better edge control. Selkirk says the BoomCore has no break-in period. Selkirk's buyer reviews cover both shapes, so we can't separate widebody feedback from elongated feedback.
